In loving memory of Archie J. Gaul who passed away on October
16, 2026, at the age of 94.
Archie
served as an appointed Trustee of the Belfast Water District from May 20,
1974, through December 15, 2016. In August 1990, Archie was elected
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and held that title for over 25 years,
retiring after 42 years on the Board. His 42 years of dedicated service was
acknowledged by Members of the Senate and House of Representatives,
including Senator Michael Thibodeau and Governor Paul LePage. During his
tenure, he witnessed many system improvements and expansions in the water
system. Archie was
one of the driving forces behind replacing miles of water main, protecting
the wells and aquifer, and making
numerous
major improvements to the entire water system. In honor of
Archie J. Gaul, the Belfast Water District, dedicated the Little River
Station Office Building in his name on March 13, 2017. We are forever
grateful to Archie for everything he has done for us here at the Belfast
Water District!
